Ikorodu came alive with hope and promises as FreshWaves, a dynamic community and social advocacy movement, took a bold step to shape the future of youths in Ikorodu.
As a group committed to the ideals of social impact and community-driven advocacy, this group of change-makers at the weekend gathered in numbers to distribute free JAMB forms to students in Ikorodu, as part of its educational development agenda.
About 100 forms were distributed to members of the Ikorodu Students’ Association (ISA), National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and others at the presentation held at the White House/Grammar School Area of Ikorodu.

Miss Rofiah Adetoun Oshineye, the first female President of the Ikorodu Students Association (ISA), picked the forms at the FreshWaves office for onward distribution to their members, while Mr. Basit Ogunsanmi, Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu branch, was also on ground to witness the distribution of the forms to recommended persons from the youth council amongst other beneficiaries.
According to one of the coordinators, Israel Okedeyi:

“Freshwaves is a social advocacy group, we seek to make positive impact in the society. That’s what we are doing on education for now. We will be having our intervention on heath soon. So, it is one step at a time.
For some, it is just a form, but for the tens of students who are beneficiaries of the gesture, it is the difference between a future filled with possibilities and one cut short by circumstances beyond their control.”
Also speaking, Okedeyi said that the movement is committed to impacting the community.

“The FreshWaves team is delighted to be contributing to the development of education in our community and we are committed to more projects and programmes that would impact positively on the lives of indigenes and residents of Ikorodu.
“FreshWaves is a convergence of passionate individuals who believe that change begins with action, aroused by a deep commitment to youth empowerment and social advocacy.

“We understand how much a single opportunity can change a life and that is why we are here today. We want to ensure that financial struggles do not stand in the way of any student’s dream,” he said
